cherish your fam, fam
Hello, salaams all - before I begin, I just wanted to say Ramadan Mubarak if you're observing this beautiful month and if you're not, I hope all's well with you. Please forgive me for any shortcomings I may have caused you in the past.
Alright, so, I'mma get a little personal on this one and it's something that many people honestly miss so much in their life. It's something they've taken granted of, so much so that they sometimes even found it annoying but in hindsight they see how fun and precious it all is.
I'm talking about family. Many people have them, some people unfortunately don't. We have to make the best of our situation, always. Alhumdullilah - I have one, but it's not really closely knit.
If you have the luxury of having family parties, gatherings, daawats, you're really lucky. It's something that may sound so silly to you but it makes your heart full and something I personally really miss.
If you have dinner with the family, and during this month, constant iftaars with a food-decorated table together - you're really lucky. There's so much beauty in the seasonal feeling of Ramadan and there's those out there who've become desensitized to it. It's already hard to get the feel of Ramadan in the household and community in the West. But when it's all just cut off and you're fasting through Ramadan and living like any other mundane day, it's saddening.
Where someone would be "breaking dates" under the constant chatter and insanity of their family in their homes, there's another out there sitting alone at a Popeye's for iftaar - trust me, I've been there, it's not as lit as it sounds. It's quite the opposite. Imagine beginning your Ramadan like that.
There's a hollow feeling in the heart as if there's something missing during this time and seeing people celebrate Ramadan is so beautiful and painful at the same time. I know that Ramadan isn't about all of this but something greater for an individual in his soul and imaan but it definitely makes it a huge variable in making the month so much more special.
I'm grateful for everything that's come in my life and plan on making the best out of this month, God willing. I hope you have something to take away from this and realize the importance of family.
Thanks for reading, have a blessed month.
